One volume journal, handwritten. Lists all officers on board and the weaponry. Daily entries tell of the weather, the ships sighted, if American or British, if any signaling or other communication occurred and any problems that ensued. Tells of his duties. Also some recipes in the back for cakes and "ways to dress a calves head". Some account of his expenditures, poems and hymns in the back of volume.
